"Is this really how you want to spend your Saturday night?"
"It's how I wanted to. But there's this rat in my ear making it difficult to enjoy."
"Oh, that's hilarious Nat. You know, Tai offered a movie night. Her parents are out today."
"Yeah?"
"Yeah."
"Then why are you still pedaling?"
-
Nat drags Van out to vandalize an abandoned pizzeria. They're fifteen, cocky, bitter, and use too much spray paint, according to the ghost that interrupts them.

Summary
“Try and patch up something of what used to be us. I missed you— Miss you, right now. Something was gone from my life and I didn’t know how to handle it. Yes, that’s immature. Yes, I probably should’ve gotten over it. But I didn’t want to. I—I didn’t want it to be over, forever, just like that.”
“You can want all you like. That doesn’t change that there’s two of us here.” Shauna glares. “Don’t I have a say in this?”
“Of course you do,” and Jackie’s eyes look up at her from behind her lashes; pleading to go easy on her.
Shauna considers it; takes in the sagging shoulders and circles under her eyes. Jackie does look worse than she ever did before. College evidently didn’t result in a reinvention of herself, or at least not in the way she mused on in high school.
or
In the wake of their time in the wilderness and presumed dead to the world, Shauna and Jackie both need to adjust to life without each other, and with bodies that no longer completely feel like their own. Fall of 1999, Providence, is the setting for an unexpected reunion.

Summary
“Can I—what was it like, as captain of your team, leading your girls through survival instead of the Nationals tournament you’d planned for?”
She blinks. Captain. She hadn’t been a captain in a long time. Before she’d realized it, even. She couldn’t even remember what it felt like. But she can’t say that, can she? That’s not what they’d agreed on.
“Honestly?” Jackie says, and the reporter leans in with this fucked up excited expression on his face like Jackie’s about to sign the check on his next bonus. She fights to keep her face blank, a version of honesty. “The plane crashed, a bunch of my friends died, and the rest of us starved and scavenged and prayed for nineteen months. It sucked, and then they found us. And that's the end of the story.”
Or, Jackie survives the wilderness. Now it's Wiskayok that scares her.

Summary
A wistful ache worms inside Jackie’s rib cage, staring deep into brown. She’s almost convinced to break the silence, but then she hears a yawn, and a third person’s muttering.
Melissa rises behind Shauna, one eye squinting as she steps out into the light to stumble closer, plastering to Shauna’s side. “Mm, what are you doing? Come back to bed.”
Jackie turns before she can see their mouths connect.

The wilderness revives Jackie during season 3. Suffice to say, she’s not thrilled to learn what her best friend has been getting up to.

The Story of the Winter Jackie Taylor Forgot How to Speak by The_Greatest_Closure_In_New_York_City

Summary
The winter that Jackie Taylor stopped talking was an especially frigid ordeal. It had arrived in early October with a fury of flurries that quickly transformed, without warning, into a barrage of blinding snowbursts. By early December, blizzards blanketed the town’s tired streets with boundless layers of snow above ice above snow (and repeat). When Jackie stopped talking in early March, the spring thaw had only barely announced itself. As piles of compacted ice and snow just barely shed their layers, it seemed to some as if nothing was changing at all.
Unlike the winter’s subtle entrance, Jackie’s mutism appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Almost nothing comes out of nowhere.
Nobody knows the exact moment when Jackie stopped talking - whether her voice faded silently into the night or if it was suddenly stolen from her; that's between Jackie and God Himself.
Or: Jackie Taylor has suddenly stopped speaking, and even Shauna can't figure out why. It takes a night of shenanigans with Lottie and Nat and an unnecessary number of calls to Shauna for them to finally crack Jackie Taylor wide open.

Fuck my head.
“Shauna,” Someone aggressively starts tapping and shaking her face and shoulders (which doesn't help the throbbing pain in her head). “SHAUNA GET THE FUCK UP!” Stirring awake with a small groan she gazes at the girl in front of her. The air is thick with smoke and filled with blood-curdling screams. It looks like a plane—or at least what's left of one. The girl shakes her once again. “Shauna we have to go NOW!”
Taking a second to look around, her eyes finally connect with the girls.
“Who are you?”

Summary
A year had passed since the plane crash, and all of them decided to bury the past forever. Shauna had been accepted into Brown and is starting her first year as a psychology student. Everything starts crashing and burning when she lays her eyes on someone who continued to haunt her after that night.
Jackie? Jackie Taylor? It can't be...
But her name is Jacqueline, and her friends all call her Jackie. Her surname is not Taylor but Blackwood. Two syllables. Similar in a way. And she's popular. She's dating an attractive guy. She's the captain of Brown's women's soccer team. Once again, Shauna continues to live in her shadow.
_____________________________________
"You gutted and ate her?" Jackie—No, Jacqueline—scrunched her brows in disgust. "That's fucking gross."
"Um." Shauna shifted with discomfort.
"Well?" Jacqueline circled her slowly. Her laughter rang in Shauna's ears. "Did she taste good?"

Summary
The snow still falls.
Winter still comes.
But this time...
The bear arrives early.
And it saves everything.
...
This is the last night before the fall. Doomcoming was always meant to be the end of something. Her friends will become monsters. Her friends will die. The Yellowjackets will be lost to the first snowfall and the snuffing out of the light as Jackie breaths her last breath out in the cold.
Let this be their salvation, let it be their feast or let it be their death, all of them. This would be kinder. Quicker than the starvation that has weakened their limbs and undone their muscles and wasted them away under their clothes. They are frail already, their cheekbones are sharp with hunger. They will not survive winter, not like this; not unless they do something terrible.
The living shall become monsters. The dead shall become ghosts. The wilderness will get its fill in screams and blood, one way or another.
Slowly. Slowly.
Forward Lottie goes.
