"We shouldn't be doing this," Riza Hawkeye says, a gasp clawing up her throat as Roy Mustang drags her fitted bodysuit down her shoulders to suck hot, wanton hickeys into the creamy pale skin.
He already has her pinned to the wall, which is incredibly unfair, as the solid weight of his muscular body against hers seems to make her rational brain- the part of her that would have slapped or shot him the moment he put his hand on her thigh underneath the table- fizzle out to absolutely nothing. Instead, she is an unprecedented level of horny, the consequences of this having already sunk to the very back of her fuzzy mind.
Outside of this bathroom, in the bar where their coworkers are still waiting for them to return, music plays loud enough that Riza can feel it in the floor. Summary
A flash of red catches his gaze and makes him linger for just long enough to see it; a sharp, shallow cut across the center of her chest, just above her breasts, clearly done with a thin knife. On the tops of her breasts themselves, there are more bruises that he can't even begin to identify the cause of- just that they're purplish red and scratchy-looking above the hem of her black lace bra. This, paired with the marks on her wrist from last week that she is still clearly hiding with her long sleeves, are almost enough to set him off.
Almost.
Instead, with the most calm, casual tone he can manage, Roy asks-
"What happened to your chest?"
"And why were you looking at my chest?" Riza scolds with a plastered on smirk as she tugs her shirt up. "Keep your eyes to yourself."
The rest of their team, who clearly have not seen her injuries, turn to start dogging on him for being a pervert (nothing new). Roy's attention, however, is not deterred.

Riza waits by the phone, and the phone call comes from Roy half an hour later. She picks up immediately, relief flooding from her when she hears his voice. They're not quite friends, but they've always been friendly, and Roy is reliable; trustworthy. Surely, he'll help her somehow.
“Riza,” He says, worry etched into every word he says. “What’s going on? Is it your father?”
“No- I mean… His health is getting worse, but this isn’t about him,” Riza sighs. She's certain with her father's recent symptoms that he has developed cancer and is already in the later stages of it, just like her mother had, but the man refuses to go see a doctor. Maybe that's for the best, anyway. They'd never be able to afford treatment. Riza can barely even afford food for them and the cats, often having to grow and hunt their own, which has taken years to get good at. “Do you remember Poppy?”
“The cat? That's the orange one, right?”
Of course, Roy would remember.

“At ease, lieutenant. It’s just me,” Roy rasps as she gasps and puts her hands in his hair with a weak little 'please'. The motion looks like it takes all of her effort, like she's still too tired to really do it properly. Her eyes are heavy-lidded, but they widen slightly when they look down and meet his own in the darkness of their shared room. He fully expects to be hit or shot- he deserves worse than that, really- and yet, she does no such thing. Just falls back fully onto the bed again and arches up into him instead of away. “That's it. I’ve got you. Just stay still and let me take care of you.”
Maybe they should spend the night together on these trips more often from now on.

The idea of Riza and Roy together… It's almost unbelievable. Riza is so studious and organized, beautiful and sweet, and Roy is… Well. As much as Maes loves him, Roy Mustang is a goddamn mess. Handsome and intelligent, sure, though Maes isn't sure that those two qualities outweigh how much of a bastard Roy can be. The concept of him being able to keep any woman, let alone one of Riza's caliber, is outlandish.
Maes really does try to picture her tagging along, but the mental image of the Riza Hawkeye on the beach in a sundress, smiling and relaxing for once in her life- let alone with Roy- is impossible to conjure up.

She doubts anyone would really notice, or care enough to say anything if they did. And even if someone did say something, they could come up with some sort of excuse to cover them for just one night.
Yet, both of them know better. Doing what they've been doing is already selfish and dangerous to a ridiculous degree, and it's more than they deserve, too. So, Riza knows better than to ask for more.
Honestly, she's not even as upset about it as she thought she would be when they first crossed this line. Just grateful that they still get to have this, after everything, because if this is the most they'll ever get to have, it's still so much more than they deserve.
