Summary
Shane is a 25 year old Executive Assistant to one Zane Boodram, Senior Partner of Boodram, Rozanov and Associates Vampire Law Office in Ottawa. He's one of few humans that works in that office but he loves his job. Shane answered an ad when he was 19, broke and desperate, too proud to ask his parents for help. He offered up blood and in exchange, money for rent, food and clothes. A perfect deal. Except Shane got so much more than that. He gained a second family and a permanent spot in their pack of vampires. Shane considered Zane and his wife Cassie his second set of parents. Overprotective vampire parents. It was the best decision Shane ever made.

Ilya, 200 year old Senior Partner at Boodram, Rozanov and Associates Vampire Law Office in Boston. He runs a tight ship, being ruthless in and out of the courtroom. Taking over the firm when his father had died filled him with doubt but taking it over was the best thing decision he'd ever done.

Falling in love isn't the problem. It's the staying together with outside forces.
TLDR; Two idiots fall in love. One's a vampire and one's human. Life gets difficult.

Shane had mentioned that he could probably fix it, tighten it up some maybe. His Dad had taught him how to be handy.
His hand was around a bottle of medication he’d been taking for the better part of 2 years now, some chemical help for anxiety well beyond his control.
He held the bottle and stared at the facet dripping slowly.
Shane’s eyes were transfixed on the sight in front of him.
The dripping sink. The pill bottle in his hand, the sun coming in from the sliding door that lead onto the back porch.
And his father who currently laid motionless on the cold tiles of the kitchen.

Shane had never been so scared in his whole life. He gripped Ilya’s hand tightly. They told each other if they didn’t make it that they loved each other so fucking much.
The plane skidded to a stop, flames already engulfing the back.
Shane doesn’t remember much after that. He doesn’t remember seeing unconscious forms of people he doesn’t know. Shane doesn’t remember seeing the bodies of people that would never make it. He doesn’t remember screaming in Russian because his brain wants to remind him of his biggest comfort.
