Summary
Set after the events of Tokyo Ghoul Re: in the US
Morgan is a ghoul coming back to her home city after having been on the run for four years. Ghouls have something they can eat without killing humans, the FBGA has been restructured to provide for ghouls instead of killing them, and ghouls all over the world are finally getting the chance to integrate into society.
When she meets one of her oldest friends at a coffee shop, she doesn't expect to stick around long. But given the chance to get back on her feet, she finds herself yearning for the connections and friendships she had before going on the run.

Rumi was hiding something.
Mira wasn’t an idiot. After knowing Rumi for so long, her mannerisms became obvious. Whenever she didn’t want to address something, she slipped into her professional persona, politely declining with a uniform smile. Usually, Mira and Zoey just exchanged a glance as Rumi walked away, and only discussed what happened later with hushed voices.
Today had been different, though.

Summary
The more Takedown plays in Rumi's head, the more she wonders if those lyrics were truly meant for the Saja Boys or if they were referencing a demon much closer to home. During the train scene, Rumi gets injured. When Mira and Zoey get Rumi home to check her for injuries, they find much more than just cuts and bruises. Mira is stuck with the idea of being lied to by one of the only people who truly loved her, and Zoey struggles with the idea of how much of Rumi she has known all these years.

Celine was put in an impossible situation. Run the Sunlight Sisters record label, try to keep demons out of the world in the absence of two hunters, and raise a child that wasn't hers, all on her own.
Oh, and of course, just to add to the difficulty of her situation, the kid is half demon. She's lucky she's so stinking cute.

I've seen so many stories completely villainizing Celine, which I'm totally interested in exploring don't get me wrong, but I also disagree that that's how she is in canon. She's a lot more complex than that, I think. That being said, this ALSO isn't based on canon. This is Celine doing a better job at being the parent Rumi needed.
Also note that the first chapter is a prologue and not really in the style that the rest of the fic will be written in, it's just like that for atmosphere!
