His fingers stay steady, combing Gavi’s hair forward onto his forehead and then back to one side. It’s soft against his fingertips. He can see it against his eyelids when he closes them in the darkness, can smell it without needing to breathe it in.
Low, soft, and a bit broken, Gavi’s voice is weak. His nails dig into Pedri’s hipbone as he admits, “I just—I don’t know. I didn’t wanna have to come home yet.”

Ferran and Pedri somehow fall into a friends-with-benefits-type relationship after they sleep together following Spain's Euros win. The only problem is Ferran was never made for a friends with benefits relationship, and a year and a half later he has to face the fact that he will have to break it off, no matter how much he has gotten accustommed to treating his best friend like a lover.
