His goal is simple: trigger the story ending by getting the two main leads together and go home.

When he was a kid, Till imagined it would be some big accomplishment and after seeing 13 Going on 30, he really thought his 30s would be some of the best years of his life and he couldn’t wait to be “thirty, flirty, and thriving,” but life wasn’t a rom com and he wasn’t Jenna Rink living his dreams. No, he was, unfortunately, a thirty year old virgin, working a steady, but mind-numbingly dull job at an office that he didn’t necessarily despise, but didn’t exactly enjoy either.
Even though his life wasn’t an American rom com, maybe it was a shoujo manga starring a pathetic lead because his virgin status had granted him a magical power. But even his power wasn’t all that special as far as magical powers go, he could read people’s minds, but he had to actually touch someone to be able to read their thoughts. At first glance, he thought it was wonderful, he could finally figure out what women looked for and by reading their thoughts, charm his way into their hearts, but then he remembered, if touching women was easy for him, he wouldn’t be in this predicament in the first place.

Cheng Xiaoshi’s vision blurred in and out as a silhouette of blinding white came into view, staring down at him. He thought it was the sun at first.
But Lu Guang’s voice rang in and out of his ears. “…Killing yourself.”
What was he saying?
The last words he heard before passing out came from Lu Guang’s mouth, as he moved too close and placed his palm over his eyes to shield him from the blinding sun.
“Too nice.”
Where Lu Guang fails to save Cheng Xiaoshi, the excessive diving finally wears him down and they both die. Lu Guang becomes a demon and Cheng Xiaoshi, a fallen angel. But even in death Lu Guang is unwilling to move on.

M writes with neat handwriting and fills the margins with adorable stickers or doodles that make Phainon grin like an idiot. Their exchanges grow from book reviews to little glimpses of their lives, until the letters they share feel like a secret world meant only for two.

But he forgets that some stories don’t reveal their twist until he's already hooked.

Mydei leans away from the dromas at the sight of him. He looks the same as he always does: scowl in place, dressed and armored in Kremnoan attire. Yet in Phainon’s preheat vision, Mydei is achingly handsome—sleek lines, sharp angles, and a ruggedness from years on the battlefield.
Phainon’s thighs grow wet.
“What took you so long?” Mydei snaps. “We’re heading to a negotiation, not a field trip. No need to bring all your outfits."
“What if I want to impress the stakeholder?” Phainon jests, adjusting his tunic to hide his lower torso. He falters, however, when he notices Mydei’s sharp hazel eyes fixed on the slick staining his front. For a moment, Phainon feels raw and exposed, shame creeping up his neck. Mydei’s breathing pauses, the pace slowing to something deeper and more indulgent, before he looks away.
“We have a long journey ahead,” Mydei murmurs. “Pace yourself.”
Phainon sets out on a mission with Mydei, determined to maintain the facade of being a beta despite his preheat. But then his full-blown heat strikes at the worst possible time.
Mydei takes care of him.

The circle of L’s fingers around his wrist is beginning to burn. He wants him to let go. Why hasn’t he let go? Why won’t he let go, let Light be free of this awful thing he’s done to him? Wanting, more than captivity, more than chains, binds him here. Light thinks he’s beginning to understand the desperation that drives a fox to gnaw off its own leg when caught in a trap.
His hands, damp with sweat and saliva and vomit, clutch at his hair. He feels himself screaming before he hears it, and he knows he must look frantic as he turns toward L.
L, who is smiling.
It’s an expression Light has never seen before, one that feels foreign and ill-fitting on L’s face. His smile has always been jarring; a thin-lipped, wide-eyed thing, often close-mouthed and smug. This is something else entirely. Something hungry. His eyes are half-shut, and Light can see his teeth as it wobbles across his face.

Ivan wasn’t like Urak’s pet. He wasn’t spirited or zesty, crude and snappy but with charms and talents to endear you to him anyway. He had endured, as all humans had, horrors at the hands (and tentacles, and hooves, and paws) of the segyein but not to the level of Urak’s pet. The fire that burned in Ivan was a lot dimmer than in Urak’s pet, but that only meant it burned that much hotter. Ivan made peace with the fact he couldn’t save everyone, but he could and he would save Till. If it took every good grace he’d earned with Unsha for his years as a lucrative business asset and his wife’s favorite lap pet, it was a cheap price to pay to protect his heart that beat in the chest of the other.
"The aliens took away my entire life. Now you have taken my death, and I hate you for it."

“You took a nap? You must be dying, you never nap,” Till jokes, his lips quirking up in a small smile. Ivan can’t help but return it. Till reaches out to brush the hair from his forehead, Ivan leans into the touch subconsciously, but Till quickly withdraws his fingers, averting his gaze. “Hey, Ivan, I have a question,” Till mutters.
“Yes?” Ivan replies, trying to smile his most convincing smile, to let Till know he’s okay, that he’s capable of holding it together.
“You’re thirsty, aren’t you?” Till says barely above a whisper, Ivan has to strain his ears to hear him, but the words hit him hard. He can hear Till’s pulse pick up its pace slightly in anxiety, the steady beat that had brought him so much comfort growing slightly erratic.

There is something very calming about waking up to the rumbling rrrrr-rrrrr sound of Till’s quiet purring.
Sleepy and warm, the cat hybrid is more willing to show affection when tucked beside Ivan in the sheets.
That is until Till climbs on top of him and begins kneading his chest, his squishy thighs bracketing Ivan’s pelvis, the rumbling in his throat continuing as he rubs his scent into Ivan’s neck.
Then the calming atmosphere is replaced with an unwinnable war of self-restraint.
Or, Being a cat hybrid doesn’t generally get in between Till’s friendship with Ivan, it does however, spice up their sex life.
Kitty hybrid Till and human Ivan bang on every surface of their apartment.
