The knight’s question is quiet, sincere in how it softens upon the last word.
Lumine contemplates before shaking her head. “Hardly. Perhaps I ought to be, once the history of my sins have caught up to me. Who knows what’ll happen to me in the afterlife if such a thing exists at all?
“I could always disappear any time now, a fact that I’ve accepted long ago. But before that happens…” She takes a deep breath and smiles softly up at him. Clear, open, and unafraid. “Let’s make the most of our time now, shall we?”
