Shouta has never been this scared in his life before.
"Hitoshi, please," he says, carefully, desperately, as he edges himself another inch forward, painfully aware of the way Hitoshi tenses and it makes him freeze right up. "Please come back here."
Hitoshi looks at him before he looks down the ledge of the building he's standing on and his gaze is frightfully empty, devoid of any spark and Shouta is afraid.

It's instinctual, comes to Hitoshi without a second thought and he knows it's stupid, knows that one of these days he'll have to train with his quirk, too, but—no.
He's not ready for it. He needs more time to come to terms with the fact that he has to do it, needs more time to accept that his classmates will see him using it and most of all, he needs to prepare for the fact that he'll use it on them, against them, and he's not there yet.
And he's especially not ready to use his quirk on Aizawa, unsupervised and without witnesses.

Katsuki can't breathe.
He's endlessly struggling against the viscous substance pouring down his throat and covering his face but his fingers go right through it, his explosions do nothing, his elbow jabs and his kicks are almost lovingly embraced by the same substance and he can't breathe.
"Struggling is useless," a grating voice whispers, coming from everywhere around Katsuki and it only makes him struggle harder because he's going to die otherwise, he's going to die and all of his dreams are going to go up in flames.

"Fucking danger for the entire school," guy one says and gives Hitoshi a mean look. "The support course really needs to come up with a muzzle, it's dangerous to let feral dogs go around without one."
Hitoshi jerks a step back, instinctively moving his jaw to check if the muzzle is there, if it's restricting his movements and nothing feels quite real anymore.
His vision keeps narrowing and his fingertips tingle and his stomach feels as if it's trying to make its way out of his body and for a moment Hitoshi is lucid enough to lament the fact that he ate a full breakfast today because it's going to feel so awful when it's coming back up and in the next moment there's an explosion.

Summary
Shouta feels uncharacteristically nervous as they sit down in front of the doctor, Hizashi cradling a softly crying Hitoshi to his chest.
He's been quiet for the last half hour, only pathetic sniffling making it out because the pain medication they have him on makes him loopy, which is good, because Shouta is pretty sure that the way Hitoshi screamed hours earlier will feature very prominently in his nightmares for a while.
But they still don't know what's wrong with Hitoshi and Shouta prays to all the gods he knows that they are going to find out now and that there will be something they can do about it.
Anything else is almost unthinkable.

Or, alternatively, Hitoshi finds a home.

Hitoshi gets it. Katsuki’s known Midoriya for years, they’ve lived and died for each other. He has this close, sometimes hostile, but undeniable bond with Todoroki too. Kirishima was the first person in their class that ever got close to Katsuki. It makes sense that Katsuki would want to get them something great.
It’s…it’s not a big deal that Katsuki would forget Hitoshi in all of that. For one thing, Hitoshi doesn’t think he’s easy to shop for. Katsuki already does a million things for him too. The drinks in the morning could have been his present. The blowjob in the shower might have been too. He doesn’t need an actual gift-wrapped present to know that Katsuki cares about him.
or: Hitoshi thinks Katsuki forgot to get him a gift (he’s never been more wrong).
