Summary
It had been, at the risk of understatement, a holy-twisted-hell, nine different flavors of fucked-up kind of month... but if you asked Dylan, he still would've admitted that it wasn't completely without its bright spots.
Not a lot of bright spots, really, like not enough to need both hands for the counting (which was lucky considering that he only had the one left anyways) but still, they were there.
Well... okay, maybe it was more like bright SPOT, but a really really bright one, though, in the shape of a mumble-y, cute, brave podcast connoisseur. The only problem there was that... he and Ryan hadn't actually talked in a few weeks. It had all seemed to be going so smoothly at first too, which only deepened Dylan's sighs over the whole fiasco, but then again, fiasco was his middle name and he'd made a private resolution to stop being such a drama queen about everything and instead try to just be, y'know, a regular queen.
_________________________________OR: Dylan is kind of Stage 4 smitten with Ryan, and due to his unfortunate status as the world's biggest idiot, it takes him way too long to figure out that Ryan wants him just as badly.

Nate and Sully jerked their heads around in shock at those words, but otherwise stayed carefully still after their eyes traveled over the twin barrels of the guns aimed at their faces from across the room. Lemon and Tangerine stepped apart and closed in, making themselves harder targets while they walked into the glow of the flickering torchlight that painted the walls orange. Nathan cleared his throat lightly, studying both strangers for a lengthy moment before he decided to reply.
"That's... unfortunate, because I gotta say, uh, you guys don't look very friendly at all."

Kafka looked down at his shoes for a moment, grinding his heel against the concrete while he sorted through all the feelings arguing for control in his head. He brought his eyes up to look at her once again before he spoke.
"I wanted to see you anyways.. so I could say thank you."
Kikoru met his gaze with her own, looking slightly confused.
"For what?"
Kafka felt a small swell of emotion in his chest while he gathered the words.
"For believing in me."

Kafka isn't quite sure what to say. Kikoru isn't quite sure what to say. But maybe between the two of them, they can manage to string together a full sentence about their feelings.

Summary
The guy on the doorstep is coiled tight but trying to look casual, his lips pulling back to reveal a smile that shows too much teeth to be called anything but "predatory".
"Hi! I'm Lloyd. You must be Six."
Six swallows a sigh, turning sideways to allow the other man entry into the house.
Lloyd steps in without hesitation, pulling the (very expensive-looking) sunglasses off of his face and sliding them into the front-pocket of his (Gucci?) shirt.
He takes a moment to examine his surroundings as Six quietly shuts the door.
With his designer clothes and his delicately-groomed mustache, Lloyd somehow manages to look both entirely out of place and absolutely comfortable in the middle of a C.I.A. safe house.
He pops his lips and turns back to face Six, spreading his arms after a moment of silence.
"Well, where would the world be without the buddy system, am I right? Let's get to work."

Looking back wasn't something that he was often forced to do during his early weeks travelling with the kid, she'd made damn sure of that. Ellie's chatter behind his back had begun to act as a.. metronome, almost. A constant rhythm, and a reminder that things were going according to plan, that he hadn't fucked everything up to the deepest of degrees yet.
