Summary
Susie finds that the best use of her life is nothing more than scraping by on scamming and stealing her way through life. She's got friends (one friend), a home (single-room apartment) and is feeling great (debatable) about everything.
But when she accidentally picks a former silent expert killer as her latest mark to steal from, and accidentally ropes said killer into protecting her, Susie will be forced out of her "idyllic" life and tossed head first into a world of assassins, other worlds, and a life way harder than she was expecting.
She just hopes the expert killer assassin she's stuck with doesn't turn on her in the end.
Facing the small army of contract killers is easy. Getting along with Kris? That's the hard part.

Did Falin really like bloodshed?
She had been a Healer, she had enjoyed being a Healer, before it all happened. She liked the satisfaction of healing someone and making them feel better. Especially her brother’s party. She liked avoiding violence, even if she wasn’t meek, and liked finding solutions to problems that were the most peaceful. She hugged ghosts till they left corpses, stopped in dungeons to look at bugs, that was always the person she was.
That was before that person literally dissolved to bones in that dungeon.
Before she awoke once, barely cognizant, then frenzied.
Before she awoke twice, something completely new.

Misfits in a well-adjusted found family, they battle with bigotry, their own despair, and the daily, mundane struggles that have choked out the stereotypical American dream. Marcille wants to marry Falin in a country where the two women's rights are constantly challenged; Senshi wants to take care of the local environment and promote sustainability in their community; Chilchuck, fresh from divorce, wants to succeed in his locksmith business, and Laios wants to keep his family safe, his plants/projects happy, his job peaceful, and his neighborhood strong and healthy. Together, they hope to endure and thrive.
