Summary
Blocking the exit from the crevice was a boy Javert had never seen before. He was older, probably by a year or two, and strong in build. He wouldn’t be able to fit in the crevice, but he would be able to wallop Javert if he came out of his hiding spot. “What do you want?” Javert spat.
To Javert’s surprise, the stranger backed up, making enough space for Javert to escape if he wanted to. “I’ve seen you before.”
Javert wouldn’t take the bait. “I’ve never seen you. Didn’t think there was anyone your age foolish enough to follow Mouche, but I suppose fools come in every size.”
Another surprise came in the form of a smile. The strange boy’s eyes had a crystalline glimmer despite their dark colour. It seemed to be caused solely by his mirth. “I wasn’t following la mouche, I was following la guêpe.” He gestured to Javert.OR

But then there was a knock at the door. Todd felt like a deflated beach ball and there was a stupid knock at the stupid door. He wanted to groan and cry. Instead, he forced himself back on his feet and went to open the door. His tired eyes grew wide at the sight before him. There was the Pinterest boy. His glasses were now stowed away somewhere, leaving no shield from his intent and glimmering gaze. He was leaning against the doorframe, a friendly smile on his face. “Hi, newbie! Welcome to Hell! I’m Neil. I got here a couple days ago.”
In a period of struggle, Todd Anderson is admitted to a youth Crisis Stabilization Unit. He doesn't expect to socialize at all, let alone fall for a boy experiencing his own crisis.

The Les Amis have a plan. They are going to get the crown prince to fall in love with Courfeyrac and then they're going to kill him. Ideally in front of an audience. Even better if it's national television. There's a small hitch when the crown prince runs Courfeyrac over and has a meet-cute with Enjolras instead.
The bigger hitch is when Enjolras falls in love with him.

He could still feel the cold metal pressing in. He could recall swallowing against it. That had brought a thrill of something that was not quite fear. Even when Valjean had promised "I will do it," the twist in his stomach had not been unpleasant. The incident had been bizarre but undeniably enjoyable, and continued to fascinate him late into the night.

Neil knew, better than anyone, that Todd Anderson was special. Ethereal, even. He was warm and earnest and gentle in a school that, most days, was more excrement than excellent.
It should have come as no surprise when someone else seemed to come to that same realisation.
It was fine. Todd deserved the recognition. Neil wasn’t jealous.
