Summary
The Consumable Blood Donation Program (CBDP) was established to provide a safe, accessible food supply for those who rely on human blood to survive. Vergil was diagnosed with anemiapepsia ("Vampirism") at 8, and enrolled in the program in its founding year at 28. He waits 16 years to find a match.
After being separated from Vergil at 8, Dante was never adopted and was forced to outgrow the foster system. At 43 he needs extra cash and enrolls in the CBDP on a whim. He's matched with Vergil the same day.

Nico's Notes»Clingy Demon Thing (Heat?)
I've never heard anything about any demons suddenly getting all clingy or needing constant affection before, but Nero's persistently hanging off of Kyrie and randomly rubbing my shoulders while I'm trying to work. He swears up and down that he's not in heat but that's the closest thing I can find that matches what's going on with him. My daddy's old notes don't have anything useful, so we're gonna have to ask the devil directly. But Nero's clueless, and his daddy and Dante still ain't back from hell, so I guess I'm just gonna have to get a bit creative with my sources. Good thing Lady gave me her number back at Red Grave.
I'm gonna laugh if he's in heat.

“Yes, those are actions we can take using energy.” Vergil agreed. “But that is not the base responsibility. It functions to keep you alive. It is your power. Your strength, just as is your blood. You know if you lose too much blood, you will lose consciousness. The same thing happens if you overexert yourself and use up more energy than you have to support yourself. And you,” Vergil paused as his head turned to look Nero in the eyes, which Nero reluctantly met as he twisted to look over at him, “were flaunting a lot of your abilities this week.”
