“I didn’t want him to get weird about it, like he usually does,” Jan says, shrugging, “he has had problems, with people knowing. They’ve tried to fuck him over, or make him feel bad about it. I don’t know how he would feel if you knew.”
Oh. Arjen suddenly feels guilty.
“Teammates gave him shit?”
“Management,” Jan admits, “Well, one coach. They had problems in the past, and finding out Colin preferred men did not go over well. He’s gone now, though, and Colin is more important to us than he ever was, so fuck him.”

“And I read your captions,” Jamie says. “I’m not dumb.”
Colin frowns, and glances at Jan.
“Colin posted the same shit he always does about Wales being its own country, yeah?” Jamie asks. He’s got Instagram open on his phone, scrolling through it. “And Jan posted a bunch of crap that’s not in English.”
“It is called Dutch,” Jan says.
“What did you say?” Colin asks, looking at Jan, realizing that he never actually bothered to translate it. He just liked it and moved on.
“I wanted to see if he was talking shit about someone, like me, so I translated it,” Jamie says.
“Ah, yes, I see,” Jan says, shifting on his feet. “Perhaps we were more obvious than we realized.”
“What did you do?” Colin asks.
Jamie gently clears his throat. “The only thing more beautiful than Wales is the person who showed it to me. I will carry it and you in my heart, always.” He looks up. “Congratulations, though."
“Oh, god, Jan!” Colin exclaims. “We were trying to keep it a secret!”

Summary
Colin is a touchy guy. Jamie knows this. Rebecca fucking Welton knows this. Everybody who has ever met Colin knows this.
And, they're footballers. They get a free pass on physical affection and entire stadiums full of die-hard fans who will no-homo on their behalf.
Jamie has just never been mates with a touchy person before with the added layer of said touchy person seemingly deciding that you're fair game to use as a teddy bear. He's never allowed anyone to be touchy with him the way he allows Colin to be, really. It's mad, and he has nobody but himself to blame.
Or: Jamie discovers not only that he has feelings, but that he's gone and caught them for Colin. What's a reformed twat to do?

Colin’s not so good with gore. He lifts his wrist up so that they can all see it- Jamie can tell by looking that it’s not too serious, Colin demonstrating a fairly good range of motion off the bat by wiggling his fingers, just that it must be painful as fuck, swollen and bruised.
Then Colin's face goes white as a sheet as he looks at it himself, and he starts to fall backwards.

Well, that was because… Think he was still angry at me for how I treated him, and he… He was comparing you and Dani to famous artists and said I wasn’t like that. That I don’t inspire people. Or move people. That I’m just there.”
“What the fuck, Colin?” Jamie pulls away from him and stares, anger in his words.

“He said what ?” Jamie yelled, standing up from his chair and slamming his hands down on the table. “Why the fuck didn’t you tell me?”
“Because he reminds me of myself a bit. Back before I came out. It’s hard sometimes. You know that.”
