Summary
Vallee Ducrane had been decaying since its founding. The slaughter of the ancient dragon who ruled the land before had left a powerful curse on the newfound kingdom: the decay of magic. By the time of Désiré's birth, this meant two generations born unable to access the weave, leaving an ever-shrinking population of elders to maintain a system they couldn't pass to their descendants. Désiré grew up watching harvests grow smaller, and diseases grow more rampant as communities lost the blessings provided by their druids and clerics, some villages even going so far as to turn on the remaining spell casters who failed to fix what had been broken.
The neighbouring country of Ado Quessir, though curious about their plight, didn't provide much help; most of their spell casters refused to set foot in Vallee Ducrane for fear of losing access to the weave. Not Ontor, though. He was going to find the solution to this curse if it was the last thing he did.

Summary
Fiddleford had to try. There wasn’t any other option, and time was running out.
Fiddleford knows something is wrong with Stanford. Something is very wrong. The more he thinks about it, the more he knows that both he and Stanford are in danger, and it feels like time is running out. With no other option, he reaches out to Stanford's estranged twin Stanley. It's a risky move, but there don't seem to be any other moves to make. Will Stanley even help? If he does, is there even anything to be done, or is it too late?

The novelty of being dead fades quickly, and watching over his companions soon fills him with grief and guilt. Oddly, a faint flicker of hope arises in the form of his youngest kinsman, a Dwarf of Durin's line with bright red hair.

Based on Lauralots' Alexander Pierce Should Have Died Slower series, as well as personal experiences, this universe explores Bucky as the host of a traumagenic DID system.
The Winter System consists of Bucky (the Host), the Soldier (a trauma-holder protector/former persecutor), Jamesy (a trauma-holder system little), and Winnie (a nonhuman system little, split from Jamesy).
